Operating Engineers Local 825 Endorses Candidates in New Jersey

Candidates Display Commitment to Organized Labor, Diverse Energy Future and Infrastructure Investment

SPRINGFIELD, NJ (September 24, 2019): Today, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 endorsed dozens of candidates in state, county and local races, recognizing their strong commitment to infrastructure, labor issues and a diverse mix of energy in New Jersey.

“We’re excited to support candidates who back organized labor and recognize the importance of infrastructure investment in a challenging and all-or-nothing political environment,” said Greg Lalevee, Business Manager of IUOE 825. “We took a hard look at the records, public statements and candidates positions on the issues critical to operating engineers: infrastructure investment and support for the Transportation Trust Fund re-authorization, expansion of clean natural gas infrastructure and the role it plays as we diversify our energy mix, and protecting our ability to organize and put members to work. Our endorsements for 2019 are a reflection of where candidate’s positions are in relation to our important issues.”

IUOE 825 remains committed to infrastructure investment and labor advocacy, promoting projects that will create union jobs and improve New Jersey’s economy while building the roads, energy and water infrastructure, and transit systems that form the backbone of our region.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ (August 30, 2018): Today, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 announced its support and endorsement for Mikie Sherrill for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th District.

“With organized labor under attack on all fronts from the Legislative chambers to the Courts – the time for elected representatives that understand building trades issues at all levels of government has never been more critical,” said Greg Lalevee, Business Manager of IUOE 825. “We are proud to put the support of our membership behind Mikie Sherrill’s candidacy for Congress. Local 825 members and District 11 voters can be assured that Mikie will provide the steady leadership, commitment to jobs and economic development and support for workers’ rights we can be proud of.”

“I am proud to receive the endorsement of the IUOE,” said congressional candidate Mikie Sherrill. “Faced with the rising cost of living and stagnant wages, working families across New Jersey are concerned about the future. Our community deserves a voice in Congress that puts the economic well-being of residents first, and I will work hard to help create good-paying jobs and build a vibrant economy here in New Jersey.”

International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 Endorses John Pallone for Long Branch Mayor

SPRINGFIELD, NJ (March 12, 2018): Today, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 announced its support of Council President John Pallone for Mayor of Long Branch in the upcoming municipal election.

Greg Lalevee, Business Manager of IUOE Local 825 released the following statement:

“Long Branch is an exemplary city, but over the years this great community has failed to reach its full potential. It has remained stagnant while other shore towns experienced growth, economic revitalization or a new identity. That is why we are endorsing Council President John Pallone to be the next Mayor of Long Branch because we believe he can bring all those things to this city that have been lacking for years.

Council President Pallone has proven to be a true leader who can bring people together and with all levels of government to do what’s best for the city. He has displayed the dedication and work-ethic the people of this community as well as our members need for Long Branch’s future success – and we are proud to stand by him today”

Headquartered in Springfield, NJ, the International Union Operating Engineers Local 825 represents nearly 7,000 operating engineers throughout New Jersey and five counties of lower New York: Rockland, Orange, Ulster, Sullivan and Delaware.
