Bergen County Central Trades & Labor Council AFL-CIO Scholarship Fund 2026
The Bergen County Central Trades & Labor Council offers eight $1,000 scholarships for 2025. Members of local unions affiliated with Bergen County Central Trades and Labor Council, AFL-CIO, and their dependents are eligible to apply.
Four of the scholarships are offered in memory of Ed Purtill for outstanding community service, valued at $1,000 each. An additional four $1,000 scholarships are offered in memory of Abe Solomon. Scholarships will be granted for one academic year.
Applications must be returned by February 27, 2026. For full details, see applications below.
2026 Hudson County Central Labor Council Scholarship
Who May Apply
To be eligible for a scholarship, the applicant’s Parent or legal Guardian must be a member of a local union affiliated with the Hudson County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, or his/her spouse and/or children and or registered apprenticeship program that falls within the scope of work of a union affiliated with the Hudson County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO.

IUOE Local 825 Annual Clay Shoot
Join us on Sunday, June 28 at Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays for another great event.
The outing will include lunch, 100 rounds of ammo, clay birds, and one loner gun per team. Golf carts available on a first come basis.
14th Annual IUOE Local 825 Scholarship Fund Golf Outing
Join us on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at High Bridge Hills Golf Club for a great day on the course while supporting the Local 825 Scholarship Fund.
The outing will include lunch, a shotgun start tournament, and an evening of scoring, awards, and dinner. Golfer spots are now sold out. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
2027 SNJCLC Scholarship
Who May Apply
Any high school graduate planning to continue his or her education and a college, technical, trade, vocational, or beauty school at Rowen of South Jersey, Rutgers, Rowen or Camden County College. In addition, applicants must be either an active Union Member in good standing or a family member of a union member in good standing.
When to Apply
Applications and supporting documentation must be postmarked on or before July 3, 2026, sent to:

2026 Middlesex & Somerset Counties AFL-CIO Labor Council’s Raymond A. Peterson Scholarship
This program offers three awards: First place, $2,500. Second place, $1,500. Third place, $1,000.
Students are eligible if they have a parent or guardian who is a member in good standing in a local union which is affiliated with the Middlesex and Somerset Counties AFL-CIO Labor Council, or if the applicant is a union member, the student must be a member in good standing in a local union which is affiliated with the Middlesex and Somerset Counties AFL-CIO Labor Council. Local Union must also be in good standing with the Council. To determine if the Local Union is affiliated and in good standing with the Council, please contact your union’s business office.
In addition, applicants also must:
- Provide verification of acceptance at a post-secondary educational institution and verification of a B average or above in the graduating class. An official high school transcript must accompany the application. Scholarship awards will not be awarded without these verifications.
- Write an essay of not less than 250 words on the subject of the Labor Movement detailed on the application form. Instructions are found on the application form.
Completed application and essay must be postmarked by Friday, April 7, 2026 and mailed to Middlesex-Somerset Scholarship Committee at 1295 Livingston Ave., North Brunswick, NJ 08902, or e-mail to midsomlabor@gmail.com (e-mail is the preferred method of submission).
Winners will be notified and invited to the Award Breakfast on April 26 in New Brunswick.

Local 825 members and children invited to apply for Essex-West Hudson Labor Council AFL-CIO 2026 Essex County Labor Scholarships
Members with children that are high school seniors are invited to apply for scholarships available through the Essex-West Hudson Labor Council AFL-CIO. Ten $1,000 scholarships will be awarded for one academic year. Applications must be received by April 17, 2026. Click here for the application.
2026 Monmouth & Ocean County Central Labor Council Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must attend (or plan to attend) a college, university or technical school and be a member or the child of a current or deceased member of a union affiliated with the Monmouth and Ocean Central Labor Council AFL-CIO.

- Academic Verification and/or College-Technical School acceptance form.
- Verification of union membership.
- Prepare and submit a “Letter to the Editor” to all appropriate news outlets of not less than 150 words, supporting the Labor Movement or explaining how the Labor Movement supports the needs of all working families. When the letter is published, please include a copy of the published article along with the name of the publication and date.
