The Bergen County Central Trades & Labor Council offers eight $1,000 scholarships for 2025. Members of local unions affiliated with Bergen County Central Trades and Labor Council, AFL-CIO, and their dependents are eligible to apply.
Four of the scholarships are offered in memory of Ed Purtill for outstanding community service, valued at $1,000 each. An additional four $1,000 scholarships are offered in memory of Abe Solomon. Scholarships will be granted for one academic year.
Applications must be returned by February 27, 2026. For full details, see applications below.

To be eligible for a scholarship, the applicant’s Parent or legal Guardian must be a member of a local union affiliated with the Hudson County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, or his/her spouse and/or children and or registered apprenticeship program that falls within the scope of work of a union affiliated with the Hudson County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO.

Join us on Sunday, June 28 at Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays for another great event.
The outing will include lunch, 100 rounds of ammo, clay birds, and one loner gun per team. Golf carts available on a first come basis.

Join us on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at High Bridge Hills Golf Club for a great day on the course while supporting the Local 825 Scholarship Fund.
The outing will include lunch, a shotgun start tournament, and an evening of scoring, awards, and dinner. Golfer spots are now sold out. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.

Any high school graduate planning to continue his or her education and a college, technical, trade, vocational, or beauty school at Rowen of South Jersey, Rutgers, Rowen or Camden County College. In addition, applicants must be either an active Union Member in good standing or a family member of a union member in good standing.

The following items must be submitted as one complete package to be considered for a scholarship:

This program offers three awards: First place, $2,500. Second place, $1,500. Third place, $1,000.
Students are eligible if they have a parent or guardian who is a member in good standing in a local union which is affiliated with the Middlesex and Somerset Counties AFL-CIO Labor Council, or if the applicant is a union member, the student must be a member in good standing in a local union which is affiliated with the Middlesex and Somerset Counties AFL-CIO Labor Council. Local Union must also be in good standing with the Council. To determine if the Local Union is affiliated and in good standing with the Council, please contact your union’s business office.
