Local 825 members and children invited to apply for Essex-West Hudson Labor Council AFL-CIO 2018 Essex County Labor Scholarships
Our members with children that are high school seniors are invited to apply for scholarships available through the Essex-West Hudson Labor Council AFL-CIO. Ten $1,000 scholarships will be awarded for one academic year. Applications must be received by April 16, 2018. Click here for the application.
2018 IUOE Local 825 Academic and Special Scholarship Applications Now Available
International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 is pleased to announce the following Academic and Special Scholarship Award for 2018:
- Six academic scholarship awards of $2,500.00 per academic year for four years
- Three $2,500.00 special scholarships per academic year for four years, one in each of the following categories:
- Outstanding Student-Athlete
- Outstanding Student Service
- Outstanding Appreciation/Understanding of Unionism and the Labor Movement

5th Annual Local 825 Poker Run
Get ready for the fifth annual MOTORCYCLE POKER RUN.
Once again we will ride for fun and to benefit the Local 825 Scholarship Fund.
Sunday, Sept. 24. Registration is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Local 825 Training Center, 338 Deans Rhode Hall Road, South Brunswick. The ride begins at 11. The destination is a great BBQ at Moose Lodge, 1240 East Veterans Highway in Jackson, NJ. A band will entertain.
The ride is $25 per rider and covers the food, band and a contribution to the scholarship fund. It’s always been a great time, guaranteed!

Sixty (60) applications will be available for the Operating Engineers Local 825 Apprenticeship Program class that will begin spring of 2018.
Applications must be completed in person during the following dates and times, at the following location:

Washington Post: Senate approves FERC nominees, restores voting quorum
The U.S. Senate has approved two Republicans nominated by President Donald Trump to serve on FERC, which oversees the nation’s power grid and natural gas pipelines. The unanimous vote yesterday restores a voting quorum that will now allow American energy companies the ability to move forward with projects that will create jobs and improve our security. Among them is the $1 billion PennEast pipeline in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
