Local 825 Operating Engineers boost Jackson campaign, endorse candidacy of former Public Works Director

For Immediate Release

SPRINGFIELD, NJ, MARCH 3, 2014 – The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 announced today that it is endorsing Eric Jackson for Mayor of Trenton.

Citing his experience in Public Works for the cities of Trenton and Plainfield, along with his grasp of Trenton’s economic and employment needs, Local 825 urged its members to back Jackson’s candidacy.

“We’ve met face to face with candidate Jackson and we believe that he understands the issues that are important to our members and to working people in general,” said Greg Lalevee, Local 825 Business Manager.

Jackson’s stand on attracting more economic development and jobs to Trenton is what is needed to help the city begin to rebuild its infrastructure and its economy, Lalevee said.

Local 825 is headquartered in Springfield, N.J., and represents more than 6,500 operating engineers throughout New Jersey and five counties of lower New York: Rockland, Orange, Ulster, Sullivan and Delaware. Its members operate heavy-equipment – such as cranes, bulldozers, graders, pavers, pile drivers backhoes and loaders – to execute large construction tasks and earthworks operations.
