M.E.T.A.L.S. Program
Member Education, Training and Labor Studies
Local 825’s M.E.T.A.L.S. Program provides structured mentorship and education for newly organized members, helping them build confidence, understand union life and stay connected to the values that define our organization. Launched in 2020, M.E.T.A.L.S pairs new members with experienced Operating Engineers who volunteer their time to provide guidance, answer questions and share the knowledge that only comes from years on the job.
Whether navigating benefits, understanding job site expectations or learning the history and responsibilities of union membership, the goal is simple: no member should ever feel alone.
“Many of us learned about this life at the dinner table, but not everyone has that luxury. This program helps new members find their footing and strengthens the organization for decades to come.” Greg Lalevee, Business Manager
M.E.T.A.L.S helps members navigate:
- Union benefits
- Job site standards and expectations
- Safety protocols
- Local 825 history and structure
- Member responsibilities
- Career pathways and training opportunities
